Your Girlfriends’ Getaway Guide to Wauwatosa

Two people enjoying glasses of wine at The Ruby Tap

Is a girlfriends’ getaway truly complete without a baked-out itinerary packed with places to wine and dine, must-visit local shops, and can’t-miss activities? We didn’t think so.

If you ask us where to go on your next ladies’ trip to our charming city, we’ll send you to all of the following places!

1. The Ruby Tap

First stop: The Ruby Tap. Find an assortment of wines from around the globe at this exciting self-serve wine bar, owned by sister-duo Brooke and Sarah. Relish in small plates featuring Wisconsin cheeses, charcuterie, and desserts. Don’t forget to grab your favorite bottle to-go to enjoy while relaxing back at your hotel.

2. The Village Cheese Shop

You and your squad will love this women-owned artisan cheese shop in Tosa Village. Owner Sabina Magyar is among the recipients of the American Cheese Society Certified Cheese Professionals (ACS, CCP) and brings her expertise and passion for European-style cheese to The Village Cheese Shop.

3. The Village Shops

From books and plants to clothing and accessories, Tosa Village’s small, local businesses truly have everything you’re looking for — and even things you’re not! Shop small at Shop Privy, Heinsight Leather, Mooi, Flannel Fox, Magpie Jewelry and Metal Studio, Salamander, Studio Ric Rak, The Flower Lady, and The Little Read Bookstore.

4. Golden Nest Pancakes & Cafe

No getaway is complete without brunch — and Golden Nest Pancakes & Cafe delivers. Located in the growing Mayfair Collection, this classic-style cafe specializes in an assortment of sweet and savory breakfast and lunch items.

5. Cuppa Tosa

Interested in picking up a quick coffee and then hitting the town for a day of activities? Cuppa Tosa is the perfect stop to grab a cup o’ joe and a light breakfast sandwich. This quaint spot offers dine-in, take-out, and curbside service.

6. Tosa’s Premier Shopping Destination

Prepare to spend an entire day at the Mayfair District. Mayfair Mall and The Mayfair Collection have everything you and your friends need for the ultimate shopping trip, including Nordstrom, Pottery Barn, Lululemon, Barnes & Noble, TJ Maxx, and so much more.

7. Jojo’s Martini Lounge

Pinky’s up — Jojo’s Martini Lounge is your one-stop-shop for all things cosmos and martinis. Create the perfect girls’ night with before-dinner beverages or a nightcap. They have countless cocktails on hand, as well as weekly drink specials.

8. Simma’s Bakery

Turn this family-owned bakery into your sweet tooth pitstop. Serving up fresh treats for the people of Wisconsin for over 38 years, Simma’s Bakery located at 68th & Wells offers specialty desserts (specifically, their award-winning cheesecake) and breakfast goodies.

9. Arté Bar & Painting Lounge

Arté Bar & Painting Lounge is the perfect blend of our favorite activities: drinking wine and painting! Sign up for any of their instructor-led classes or paint your own masterpiece in an open canvas painting session.

10. Hermanas

Whether you’re Team Guacamole or Team Queso, Hermanas has your fresh, spicy, made-from-scratch Mexican cuisine covered. Another women-owned business in Wauwatosa, this fun and feisty spot is a must for grabbing a classic margarita or something a little more daring.

11. Fitness Classes

If you and your besties are all about breaking a sweat before you indulge in everything our city has to offer, Wauwatosa has the right blend of boutique fitness studios just for you. Check out Tosa Yoga, Orange Theory Fitness, 9Round Fitness, PowerCycle, and more.
