Discover Wauwatosa with a Local: Mark Mahoney

Mark Mahoney, co-founder of Stock House Brewing Company in East Tosa, has spent the last seven years working for some of the Midwest’s best craft breweries.

In 2018, he opened up Stock House with his buddy Paul Hepp, in hopes that it would be a “home away from home” for members of the community and their friends, loved ones, and visitors alike.

To help plan your next trip, Mark shares his favorite places to eat, what to check out, and what he loves most about our city!

Tell me a little about what you do at Stock House Brewing Company? How long have you worked there? What do you like most about your job?

“I am the brewmaster and co-founder at Stock House Brewing Company. We opened our taproom in November of 2018. I love chatting with our loyal customers and educating them on the brewing process.”

Where are you originally from and what do you like most about the city of Wauwatosa?

“Born and raised here in Wisconsin, and I’ve been a resident of Tosa for the past 12 years. I love the many small, family-owned businesses we have in the community.”

Cannot believe I haven’t been to @ono.grindz until now! What a gem. 🥰 It’s a quaint spot serving up authentic Hawaiian food that doubles up as a market place with all the local goods. This is the combo plate with Kalua pork, Char Siu chicken, purple sticky rice, Li Hing carrot pineapple slaw and macaroni potato salad. We also got pork dumplings, bbq pork sliders, guava cake and ‘POG’ juice but I was way too eager to get to it, to snap photos of everything. Have you all been? Also, I always forget how many neat things are in Tosa! It was great seeing @therealgoodlifeco store front, @persikadesignco’s mural, @rocketbabybakery and @crankyals – which is another place I have yet to go! . . . #onokinegrindz #onegrindz #wauwatosawi #hawaiianfood #kaluapork #charsiuchicken #carrotslaw #purplestickyrice #macaronipotatosalad #porksliders #guavacake #pogjuice #aloha #marketplace #epicureanchronicles #ecsquad #ecmke #discoverwauwatosa #supportlocalmke #julesinmke #saturdaymorningvibes

Ono Kine Grindz—those bulgogi sliders!
Eddie Martinis, which serves up the freshest steaks, chops and seafood.
Thai-namite on W. North Ave is also amazing.

What is your favorite brewery in Wauwatosa? Or, in Wisconsin?

“Probably being a bit biased here…but Stock House, of course! We have a unique Pay-It-Forward program where for just $5, you can buy a friend or a neighbor a beer in advance. We write up the person’s name on our Pay-It-Forward board. It’s always a fun surprise to see if you got a free brew.”

“Beer all the way. But I do appreciate a great spirit too. The bourbon list at Tosa Bowl and Bun is fantastic.”

Lastly, Brewers or Bucks?

“Go Brewers!”
